Leagues

Updated with effect from 3rd March 2010

Thank you to the Team secretaries and fixture organisers who have worked hard with the league co-ordinators to address the fixture backlog. The Men's Div 2 and Women's League now look in order with only a handful of fixtures to be played and a few left as yet unscheduled.

The Men's Div 1 is the league giving most cause for concern despite League Co-ordinator Donnie MacDonald's sterling efforts and the co-operation of some teams. We are well over 4 months (2/3rds) into the season and some clubs have not even completed half of their fixtures for a variety of reasons, which is a poor show. The clubs in question should continue to communicate with each other and Donnie MacDonald, and a huge effort is requested to get the leagues back on track please.

All remaining league fixtures must be organised by Friday 12th March and completed by Friday 30th April 2010. No league games will be sanctioned after this date.

Sadly, Montrose Magic have elected to withdraw from all basketballtayside and fife competitions with immediate effect. This has been frustrating for club members, fellow league teams and administrators alike however the withdrawal has been accepted in the best interest of all the clubs involved. New teams are always welcome to the bt&f league in the future and we hope that a Montrose team can come back into the league next season once the training and fixture organisation problems have been resolved.

There is a new team Cupar Storm, based out of Bell Baxter HS in Cupar, who are looking for friendlies bewteen now and May with a view to entering a competitive team in Div 2 next season. We welcome Cupar Storm to basketballtayside & fife, and they will play in the blitz in May at DISC. Anyone looking to play friendlies agaisnt them (home or away) should contact Alasdair O'Connor on 07876 767 073.

The Senior Mens and Womens Cups are all at Semi final stages now. The Exec Committee will work with the Men's and Women's semi final winners to ensure Cup Finals takes place on a date/venue that is suitable for all finalists and that can be promoted as a showpiece final to the wider basketball community.

Good luck to all teams and clubs for the remainder of the season.
